A Letter from Dave Burgess
Thanks for finding my page on MySpace, and thanks to Glen and Anjali because they are sending me all your comments, which really brightens up my day!I see a lot of the faces from my old page, and a lot of the people that I kept up with almost on a daily basis. You know who you are, and I want to thank you from deep in my heart. I know this is just as hard for you as it is for me ( except for the part where you go home at night!!)
Now, how about a little update on what is going on with me. I was moved here to Lompoc back in 2008 and I got myself a job working on the prison grounds ( that would be cutting the grass and gardening). After a few weeks, they noticed I knew something about gardening, so they gave me my own flower garden to take care of. Shortly after that they made me#1 rose trimmer and wanted me to teach the other gardeners the correct way to trim roses. I guess someone thought that life was going to easy for me, so on January 3rd 2009 they rolled me up and threw me in a hole across the street over at the U.S.P. and I have been here ever since. That is over three months now with no sunlight and no fresh air. They give me 4 sheets of paper a week and 3 envelopes. They let me call my family one time each month, and they only let me talk for 15 minutes. I guess I don't have it that bad compared to the P.O.W's in the Vietnam era, so, I'll just tough it out......
Now on the brighter side,my appeal goes for oral argument in Denver on May 2009. My attorney seems to think that is a good sign. Again I want to thank all of you who have sent money to my sister Laurie, so she can forward it to my attorneys. It is sad to say that the only way to get Justice in America is what you can afford to pay for Justice. But that is another story for another time.
Again I wish I could thank each and every one of you personally for all the support, all of the cards and all of the letters and magazines. The "turn keys" ( that's TURNKEY not turkey), cuss at me everyday, they can't believe that a person in prison with my alleged crime would get so much mail. You would think that after a while the guards might also be thinking that maybe I shouldn't be here ( well some of them already know the real person I am here). But that's another story too........
OK friends, they're turning the lights out for the night and that means I'm a day closer to you!!
Take care of yourselves and please NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!!
God Bless all of you
and Love and Respect to all of you.
Your pal
Dave 81
